Construction Project Engineer

SUMMARY:

The role of the Project Engineer is assisting the Sr. Project Manager, Project Manager and Superintendent to plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes assisting in coordinating the necessary resources and efforts of BOC team members, subcontractors and consultants in order to deliver multiple concurrent projects without exceeding budgeted amounts and on or whenever possible ahead of schedule.

The Project Engineer will experience a variety of project types and sizes and will work very closely with Sr. PM/PM/Superintendent in a mentoring environment to become a self-sufficient and highly effective member of our construction team as quickly as possible.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist Sr. PM/PM with various tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Solicitation of subcontractor bids,  evaluation of bids and bid selection
  • Drafting and processing of subcontracts
  • Processing of submittals, shop drawings, material samples
  • Assist in development of critical path based schedules for each project and utilize for monitoring on-going progress across the various scopes of work
  • Attend regular OAC (Owner/Architect/Contractor) update meetings and support Sr. PM/PM as needed.
  • Review and understand subcontractor monthly progress billings as they relate to work completed to date

Assist Superintendents on jobsites with various tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Verification of layout/work in place being in conformance with plans/specs to assure quality control of all scopes of work for project
  • Work with superintendent and subcontractors to identify discrepancies/potential conflicts in the plans/specs and drafting RFI’s to clarify discrepancies prior to cost/schedule impact
  • Monitoring safety compliance of subcontractors, suppliers, and other personnel on jobsite
  • Limited jobsite supervision as GC representative when Superintendent is not able to be onsite
  • Coordinate regular jobsite subcontractor meetings; notify all to ensure all required parties attend.

Lead punch list development and remediation, as-built plans and OM&W materials (Operations Manuals/Warranty info) collection and assembly of entire project for submission to Owner at closeout.
