Staff Accountant

Provides management with financial information by researching and analyzing accounts; preparing financial statements. Focus on prioritizing workload to ensure quality of work w/in established time frames, process improvement, updating policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from departments.
  • Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports; verifying information.
  • Prepares general ledger entries to maintain records and files; reconciling accounts.
  • Reconciles general ledger accounts for monthly financial reporting
  • Prepares expense accruals. Assists with development and implementation of accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes.
  • Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
  • Provides accounting support for mergers and acquisitions by reviewing financial information; converting data to general ledger system; obtaining supplementary information for preparing financial statements.
  • Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.

Skills/Qualifications:
Accounting, SFAS Rules, Reporting Skills, Deadline-Oriented, Time Management, Attention to Detail, Confidentiality, PC Proficiency, Productivity, Verbal Communication, General Math Skills

Education/Experience:
CPA license, 2-3 years public accounting experience
Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of:

  • Word Processing software
  • Spreadsheet software
  • Database software
  • Accounting software – Yardi, Timberline or similar software
